How to Make Your Fragrance Last Longer: 10 Expert Tips
You've found your perfect scent. You spray it on in the morning — and by noon, it's gone. Sound familiar? With a few simple techniques, you can make any fragrance last significantly longer.
1. Apply to Pulse Points
Pulse points are areas where blood vessels are close to the skin, generating heat that activates and projects fragrance. Apply to your wrists, inner elbows, neck, behind the ears, and behind the knees.
⚠️ Don't rub your wrists together — this breaks down the fragrance molecules and shortens longevity.
2. Moisturise Before You Spray
Dry skin doesn't hold fragrance well. Apply an unscented moisturiser before spraying. The oils give the fragrance something to cling to, extending its life significantly.
3. Apply Right After Showering
Your pores are open, and your skin is warm after a shower — the perfect condition for absorbing fragrance. Apply within a few minutes of stepping out for maximum absorption.
4. Layer Your Fragrances
Apply an attar as a base layer directly on skin, then spray your EDP on top. The oil anchors the scent while the EDP adds projection. Try layering DocAns DeWorrior as a base with any of our EDPs on top for an extraordinary all-day scent.

5. Don't Spray on Clothes Directly
Spraying on fabric can stain delicate materials and alter the fragrance's development. Spray on skin for the best aromatic experience.
6. Store Your Fragrance Properly
Heat, light, and humidity degrade fragrance over time. Store your bottles away from direct sunlight, in a cool, dry place, and in their original box if possible.
7. Apply to Hair (Carefully)
Hair holds fragrance beautifully. Spray a light mist into the air and walk through it. Avoid spraying directly onto hair as alcohol can dry it out.
8. Use Petroleum Jelly on Pulse Points
A thin layer of unscented petroleum jelly on pulse points before applying fragrance creates a moisture barrier that locks in scent — a classic trick used by perfumers.
9. Don't Over-Apply
More is not always better. 2–3 sprays is usually sufficient for most EDPs like our MisaliDe or MalaDiction.
10. Choose Higher Concentration Fragrances
Fragrance concentration directly affects longevity:
- Eau de Parfum (EDP): 4–8 hours — like our Mangvish, MisaliDe & MalaDiction
- Extrait de Parfum: 12+ hours — like our DocAns DeWorrior
